Seller: Smart wearables sales double to 19.4 bln rbl in Jan–Sep
MOSCOW, Nov 1 (PRIME) – Russian sales of smart wearables, comprising fitness trackers and smartwatches, doubled on the year to 19.4 billion rubles and 3.1 million devices in January–September, retailer Svyaznoy said on Friday in a statement.
“Wearable devices continue to enjoy high popularity among the Russians. Many Russian and international companies have appeared in the smartwatch segment’s low price category in recent years slashing the average price,” Vice President of Sales David Borzilov is quoted in the statement as saying.
“The fitness tracker market is in a similar situation: a great deal of brands in the low price category emerge, but more than half the market in units and money belongs to devices from Xiaomi.”
Fitness trackers, which showed the highest growth, accounted for 57% of sales, smartwatches for 26%, and children’s smartwatches for 17%.
Sales of fitness trackers spiked 133% to 4 billion rubles and 121% to 1.7 million devices, and the average price rose 6% to 2,300 rubles. The bestsellers were Xiaomi, Honor, and Jet with 83% of the market in units.
Sales of smartwatches increased 81% to 14.1 billion rubles and 95% to 780,000 units, and the average price shrank 7% to 18,000 rubles. Apple with the Apple Watch led the sales in money and in units.
Sales of children’s smartwatches rose 42% to 1.3 billion rubles and 55% to 530,000 units, and the average price fell 8% to 2,500 rubles.
